I am not a royal watcher. In recent years, their escapades have become more like a bad episode of The Kardashians or Henry VIII than the perceived dignified royalty of the past.
The exception being the dear old Queen herself.
She was not my Queen as I am American. However, her actions during the COVID pandemic and subsequent quarantine earned my respect beyond measure.
When our own President refused to acknowledge the hurt the world was feeling, Queen Elizabeth became an international symbol of caring with her address in April of 2020.
“Using the great advances of science and our instinctive compassion to heal, we will succeed, and that success will belong to every one of us. We should take comfort that while we may have more still to endure, better days will return. We will be with our friends again. We will be with our families again. We will meet again. But for now, I send my thanks and warmest good wishes to you all.”
