What Does That Even Mean?
It seems to be all we can talk about these days. Who’s controlling a segment of society and why they might be doing it. Why we feel controlled. What all this control means. When all this control got out of hand. Where this tendency to control is heading.
As my mother used to say, “We bitch, and we moan, and we complain — and the chores still need to be done at the end of the day.”
Here’s the truth of it. No matter how you feel about the pandemic, the weather, the economy, or any of the other myriad of messes the year 2021 has brought us — they still exist.
I am frankly tired of delayed memorial services and cancelled reunions — not just because people are concerned for their health, but because they are worried that if they say the wrong thing, someone they dearly love will never speak to them again.
Who’s controlling whom here?
I am exhausted by misinformation that only serves to pit friend against friend and leave empty seats at holiday gatherings while news organizations stuff their pockets.
What’s the point in this?
I am weary of praying that we do not outlive any more of our children or — worse yet — grandchildren. I am sick of the almost daily notices of the deaths of a generation giving up hope that…
